Cub Scout Pack 451 is for all boys in grades 1-5 in the Basking Ridge/Bedminster area, especially in Mount Prospect, Oak Street and Cedar Hill Elementary Schools.
Scouting develops strong values in each boy. It honors the home, school and religious organizations as the origins of our youth"s values.
The goal of Scouting is to nurture and extend these values and emphasize self-confidence, fun and a sense of accomplishment.
The Cub Scout program is divided by grade level. In each grade, the scouts work towards specific rank achievements. All ranks are designed to be age relevant and grade specific.
Scouts participate in only two meetings per month.
1. Monthly larger "Pack" meetings are held at Mt. Prospect School where all dens (grades 1-5) come together for a group activity-scout ceremonies, awards, projects, games or guest speakers. Siblings are welcome to attend Pack meetings.
2. Den Meetings which are smaller grade appropriate customized to meeting the Cub Scout Requirements.
During this time, an Activity or project is planned for a particular achievement and led by the "Den Leader," a parent volunteer.
Pack 451 participates in many community service projects such as marching in the Annual Memorial Day Parade, Township and School Garden Beautification Projects, Thanksgiving Decorations and Holiday Cards for Fellowship Village, Habitat For Humanity Project, Scouting For Food to benefit the Food Network of Somerset County, Harry Dunham Park Cleanups, Making and Delivering Valentine Cards and Holiday Gifts to various assisted living facilities and organizations in town and participating in an Adopt A Soldier Campaign.
Other special events and activities include a popcorn fundraiser, participating as the Color Guard at the Somerset Patriot Baseball Games, Build, Design and Race a car for the Annual Pinewood Derby, Design and Race a Boat for the Annual Rain Gutter Regatta, Blue and Gold Banquet, Rock Climbing and more!
We have held many day and overnight camping trips to the Liberty Science Center, the US Battleship New Jersey and Intrepid, Camden Aquarium, Family Camping at our Scout Reservation and The Franklin Institute. Every year, we plan and organize a different camping experience.
Scouting is FUN, it teaches leadership and real skills that sports cannot.
